Welcome, first-generation students, faculty, staff, and alumni! We serve as your central hub for navigating life at IUPUI as the first in your family to attend college.

The IUPUI First-Generation Committee seeks to build a first-generation community to support, celebrate, and empower.

So what is "first-generation?"

If you're the first in your family to attend college or your parents didn't graduate with a bachelor's degree, you're considered a "first-generation" student. You're also considered first-generation if you have siblings in college, but your parents didn't earn a bachelor's degree.

Being a first-generation student is something to celebrate! Being first can be tough, but we're here to help you succeed. Join us in being proud to say, "I'm first."
