University College Celebrates 10th Anniversary

Indianapolis, IN (February 2009)—This year marks the tenth anniversary of University College at IUPUI. On February 25, 2009, the 10th Anniversary Celebration will take place on all three floors of Taylor Hall on the IUPUI campus. Dr. Eugene White, superintendent of Indianapolis Public Schools, will give the keynote address.

University College was officially named Joseph T. Taylor Hall in fall 2008 in honor of the first dean of the IU School of Liberal Arts at IUPUI. During a dedication ceremony at the 10th Anniversary Celebration, a bronze bust of Joseph T. Taylor will be unveiled. Other events that will take place throughout Taylor Hall include the debut of a song about University College written by a local musician, a 10th Anniversary video featuring individuals who were key to the development of University College in its early years, and the unveiling of a permanent display depicting the ten-year history of University College. The 10th Anniversary Celebration song was specifically written for the celebration event and will be performed by composer George David Peters. The bronze bust of Joseph T. Taylor was created by artist and sculptor Casey Eskridge.

The 10th Anniversary Celebration will be from 3:00–5:00 p.m. and is open to the public. All are welcome to come celebrate the students, staff, and faculty of University College over the last decade.
