Indianapolis, IN (March 2016) Brandi Gilbert, director of the Life-Health Sciences Internship Program, was named Career Development Professional of the Year at the Indiana INTERNnet Impact awards ceremony from the Indiana INTERNnet Organization. Gilbert has been the director of the Life-Health Sciences Internship Program since January 2007.
Gilbert started her career with IUPUI in 2004 as a graduate assistant in the Office of Student Employment (2004-2006). As director of the Life-Health Sciences Internship Program, Gilbert works with the faculty members that host the interns in the program and assists in designing the internships so they are most beneficial to the students. She has also served as a faculty mentor with the health professions program in the Themed Learning Communities seminar (2010-2011).

When asked about the award, Gilbert responded, “This award matters to me because I was nominated by our student ambassadors, which means that former program interns effectively and convincingly communicated what we do, why we do it, and what students gain from the experience. Who wouldn’t be proud of that?”
Indiana INTERNnet is a free internship-matching program linking employers, students, high schools, colleges, and universities and is managed by the Indiana Chamber of Commerce. On their searchable database they provide a matching and reporting system paired with a personal assistance center. The goal for INTERNnet is to help create or expand high-quality experiential opportunities within Indiana.
