Faculty Role in Student Success

Overview

Prompt

Increasingly, it is becoming clear that faculty have an important role in student success beyond what is happening with the delivery of the course content, creation of assignments/assessments, and grading. Recent research by Gallup suggests students are more likely to see value in their education and feel satisfied with their careers if someone at the university has taken an interest in them. In addition, the Transparency in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education (TILT) project has significantly impacted syllabus and assignment construction with a focus on helping students become more aware of how they learn and to share student perspectives on the learning experience. How can IUPUI increase faculty understanding of this broadened role in student success? Where and how might we increase faculty involvement in student success?
