First-Generation Day Celebration

Events and activities last all week long, culminating with First-Generation Day Celebration on Thursday, November 7 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Campus Center TV Lounge. Relieve stress while you pet pups, make a button to share your first-gen pride, enjoy festive food, and grab all the freebies.

An award-winning feature-length documentary narrated by Golden Globe nominee Blair Underwood, First-Generation tells the story of four high school students - an inner city athlete, a small town waitress, a Samoan warrior dancer, and the daughter of migrant field workers - who set out to break the cycle of poverty and bring hope to their families and communities by pursuing a college education.

Kick-off First Gen week with Sophomore Experience Programs and a round table discussion. You can learn from and network other first-generation students, faculty, and staff at IUPUI.

First-Generation Passport Students

IUPUI Career Success Stories

The Career Services Council members will be posting career success stories of our students, alumni, and faculty/staff. IUPUI career offices will post stories on our social media accounts throughout the week with #firstgenIUPUI and #IUPUIcareersuccess hashtags.

Congratulatory Postcards to First Generation Admitted Students

Admissions staff from the Division of Enrollment Management will be handwriting postcards with notes of congratulations to all Fall 2020 admitted first generation students.

Fairbanks School of Public Health Card and Social Media Campaign

Fairbanks School of Public Health faculty and staff will gather to write and send personalized cards to our first generation students to celebrate their success.

We will also be highlighting various first generation Public Health students, faculty, and staff on our social media outlets.
