Five students from the Diversity Scholars Research Program (DSRP) at IUPUI have been accepted to present their research at the National Conference on Undergraduate Research this year. The conference brings together around 4,000 undergraduate participants from various fields each year with the goal of promoting research, scholarship, and creative activity.
"The acceptance of five DSRP scholars to present their research at the 2024 National Conference on Undergraduate Research speaks volumes to the diligence and hard work exhibited by our students and their faculty mentors," Tonya Shelton, program director of Diversity Undergraduate Research Programs, said. "This is a positive trend that comes on the heels of eight DSRP scholars being accepted to present at the Annual Biomedical Research Conference for Minority Scholars in the fall. For the first time in the history of the program, every upperclassmen (sophomore, junior, and senior) in the program has had their research accepted for presentations at the national level."
The number of DSRP student presentations at national conferences has increased from year to year, and we hope that this positive trend will continue well into the future.

Abstract Title: Method Development for the Extraction of Insensitive Munitions from Water
Student presenter Darius Lewis spoke about the impact that his participation in the conference will have on his future.
“The staff here have been able to lead me and keep me on task for my research," Lewis said. "This conference will allow me to reach new heights in my goals. I will get to meet and network with a lot of people that can potentially help me with my future endeavors. This will surely be an experience that I won't forget!"
The conference will be held from April 8-10 in Long Beach, California.
