Development of New Degrees, Minors, and Certificates

Specific forms and processes are used when developing new undergraduate academic programs at IUPUI. When a new program is proposed, there is involvement of the chief academic officer as well as the central university administration, the Board of Trustees, and often the Indiana Commission for Higher Education. The Undergraduate Affairs Committee is engaged in reviewing proposals for new degrees (or majors), certificates, and minors, and the implementation of new programs is facilitated through the Division of Enrollment Management.

Because the review and approval processes may be lengthy, schools should allow 8–12 months for implementation of new programs.
